Weather Station Models
This mini-unit focuses on understanding, reading and interpreting weather station models.
Lesson 1: What are Weather Station Models?
- Introduce Weather Station Models through PowerPoint video.
- Students will use the fill-in-the-blank notes pages to complete the video.
- The teacher will conduct a discussion post-video to clarify any confusion on Weather Station Models.
- Students will then, with the teacher, create a mind-map of the weather station model powerpoint. This can be done digitally via bubbl.us or on paper. Here is a sample mind map done using SimpleMind.
- Note: Feel free to skip through the video as there are long pauses on some of the slides.
Lesson 2: Reading Weather Station Models
- Students will use the Weather Station Model Symbol worksheet and color code the various symbols and pieces of weather station models by using the video as a guide.
- Students will fill in the sample weather station model by following the video.
- Students will then go to the following website to continue practicing how to read weather station models.
Lesson 3: Drawing Weather Station Models
- Students will use the sample weather station model worksheet to learn how to draw weather station models.
- Students will use the video to help them complete this model.
- Then they will complete a few more station models.
